Introduction

Having had the enriching experience of being a teacher volunteer for two years through the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District Schoolboard in the Summer Literacy Program. I have become interested in the question,. There has been a widespread interest reading the impact of summer learning loss on student achievement and closing the gap for students with lower level of literacy skill. There has been little Canadian research studies on summer learning loss and support. School boards were asked to participate in this inovated project funded and supported by the Ministry of Education Student Achievement Division.
